Given where the extended family is located, we are thinking about meeting up in Kansas City for Thanksgiving (technically, Wed-Sat) . The group will include grandparents and then kids ranging from 12-20. Thinking about either a nice hotel where we can have Thanksgiving dinner or trying to find a hotel with fun things in/around it for the kids (like an indoor water park hotel or something) and hitting a nice restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner . Not at all familiar with the KC area, so any suggestions you have would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I don’t live in the immediate area but the one place that comes to mind is the Crown Center. Other folks that are closer might have better ideas.

There’s a Great Wolf Lodge by the racetrack.

As has been mentioned, there’s Great Wolf Lodge(water park hotel) by the racetrack. It’s mostly shopping out there, but there’s a Dave and Busters and Cabela’s. And the lesser Arthur Bryant’s
Crown Center has a couple hotels, and there’s the aquarium, Legoland(check the age limits), Union Station, Liberty Memorial(maybe still have some 100th anniversary stuff). That’d also be on the streetcar line, so you could go to the River Market or P&L(don’t go there, except maybe the College Basketball Experience at the Sprint Center)
Give me categories, and I can give you better ideas.

Great Wolf Lodge is the best match I can come up with as well. Plenty of food/shopping nearby, including a few things that the kids might enjoy, like Dave & Busters or T-Rex Cafe.
There’s an Adam’s Mark Hotel + CoCo Key Water Resort near the stadiums. It’s probably one of the less expensive options, but by most accounts it’s not as nice and won’t have as much stuff to do unless you make the ~15 min trek downtown.
Crown Center probably has the most food and kid-friendly stuff nearby, but I can’t think of any indoor waterpark stuff nearby (though I haven’t exactly been looking anytime recently).

This area’s very nice: https://www.countryclubplaza.com/
There are parks and art museums nearby, and they do a big ceremonial lighting of the Christmas lights Thanksgiving evening - https://www.tripsavvy.com/the-plaza-lights-2084183
Might check restaurant reservations before choosing it - I’m guessing things book up quick.

Thanks. The grandparents vetoed GWL so I think we are going to end up around Crown Center or Country Club Plaza as the latter has Thanksgiving evening activities.

Thanks, that’s exactly where I think we are going to end up.

We ended up finding an AirBnB that worked, but did go to the Plaza for the lighting ceremony and dinner. Thanks for the suggestion.
